Third Coast Conference

The Third Coast Conference convenes in the Chicago area for three days every other fall. Radio producers, audio artists, journalists, documentarians, and students come together, listen to each other’s work, share ideas and expertise, and make priceless connections with future colleagues and new friends. Sessions and discussions range from practical topics to philosophical perspectives, and all include plenty of listening.

The weekend culminates with an awards ceremony honoring the winners of the Third Coast / Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Competition.

2012 Conference and Awards Ceremony

Save the Dates

Calendars ready? Block out October 5 - 7 and plan to be with us in Evanston. (Just up the road from Chicago.) The Awards Ceremony, feting the winners of the 2012 TC/RHDF Competition, takes place the evening of October 7th.

For return-conferencers, note this is a Friday - Sunday, rather than Thursday - Saturday block of time.

Registration

Conference registration sales will begin June 6. Early registration through August 15 is $395. Late registration through September 24 is $445. On-site registration, if space allows, is $495. Registration covers the opening reception, all sessions, the Awards Ceremony, breakfasts, lunches, and - of course - afternoon snacks.

Tickets also go on sale June 6 for radio fans to attend a special reception with the winners followed by the Awards Ceremony. Your ticket purchases ($75) help support the Third Coast all year long.

Hotel

We've reserved a block of rooms at the Hilton Orrington in Evanston at $159 per night for singles, doubles and triples. Reservations will be accepted starting in June.

Location

This year's conference is presented in partnership with the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. Most activities will take place on NU's (gorgeous!) Evanston Campus.

Sessions

This year's gathering will focus on radio/journalism skills, documentary multi-media opportunities, and creative storytelling. The sessions, which are always chock-full of great listening, will be led by some the field's most innovative reporters/producers. Check back, because we'll start announcing line-up details soon!

Sponsorship

Would your company/organization relish A. Being noted as Conference supporters by thousands of audio makers and listeners around the world, and B. Coming face to face with ~400 of the most innovative, motivated producers producing audio today?

We'd love to help that happen. Contact Johanna Zorn for more information.
